with OKMT
The Otakar Kraus Music Trust (OKMT) provides music therapy and music projects for over 450 people of all ages with physical, learning, neurological or psychological difficulties in order to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.

We have worked for over 30 years in South West London in the Borough of Richmond and surrounding areas, including Twickenham, Barnes, Ham, Teddington, Hampton, Whitton, Mortlake & Hounslow.

We are dedicated to making a difference to some of society’s most vulnerable people, from children with additional needs to elderly people with dementia, by helping them to communicate, gain confidence, bond with others, and have improved mental well-being.

Music therapy - OKMT

The Power of Music

Music touches our emotions deeply and music therapy is an evidence based method of enablimg those who find it hard to communicate through traditional methods to express themselves. It has a remarkable ability to enhance communication, social interaction and emotional well-being for a wide range of people.

We run 1-1 music therapy sessions for children and adults, and provide small group music therapy in the community for toddlers with communication delay in Richmond’s Children’s Centres; for children with special educational needs at Skylarks Charity;  and for adults with learning disabilities, or neurological conditions, and for elderly people and their carers. We run OK Music School, teaching children and young people with disabilities to play instruments and perform in public, OK Ukulele Group and OK Youth Choir.

We aim to make music therapy affordable for all and most of our groups are free of charge or heavily subsidised. We can provide bursaries for families on low income or benefits.

“The music therapy sessions have been life-changing for me and my daughter”

“OK Music School has given me the courage to stand in front of a crowd and sing”

“What’s the point of being alive if there’s no music?”
