WHAT OKMT DOES
We provide one-to-one music therapy for people of all ages, and run community music therapy groups in partnership with local organisations for toddlers and parents, young children with special educational needs and disabilities, adults with learning disabilities or neurological conditions and elderly people with dementia and their carers. At OK Music School we teach children and young people with disabilities to play an instrument or sing, and we also run a Youth Choir and online ukulele group. We run occasional drumming workshops or other activities.
1-1 MUSIC THERAPY
Music therapy is an NHS approved method of reaching people of all ages who may experience disability, illness or trauma and can enhance self-expression, interaction and mental well-being. We work in premises in Hounslow and Richmond and in some care homes and local schools. For more information about 1-1 music therapy click here
EARLY YEARS MUSIC THERAPY
Small group music therapy sessions at all 6 Richmond Children’s Centres in partnership with Achieving for Children for children aged 1-4 who have a language and/or communication delay, or showed anxiety and social difficulties. Helping them develop confidence, communication and social interaction skills. Find out more here
OK MUSIC CLUB
Fun small group music therapy sessions for children with additional needs and their siblings aged one to 12 years+ on Tuesday afternoons at local charity Skylarks in Twickenham. Using percussion, keyboard an sensory lights too help them gain confidence and start to interact with others. Find out more here
OK MUSIC SCHOOL
OK Music School is teaching children and young people with disabilities and special educational needs to play an instrument or sing and perform in our sumer and Christmas concerts and other events. Pupils gain confidence, pride and happiness and gain socialisation skills to help them make friends. Find out more here
OK YOUTH CHOIR
An inclusive choir for children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities and their siblings, giving members the opportunity to share the joy of singing with others, perform in our public concerts and gain confidence. Find out more here
OK UKULELE GROUP
Online lessons for children and young people with disabilities and their siblings, to learn to play the ukulele, giving them a creative skill. The group performs at our annual concerts. Find out more here
OK MUSIC GROUP
A music therapy group at Richmond Mencap as part of an activity morning for adults with learning disabilities. Listening to music, improvising on instruments, and singing in order to reduce isolation and improve mental well-being. Find out more here
NEUROLOGICAL MUSIC THERAPY
We run neurological music therapy groups in partnership with Integrated Neurological Services (INS) for clients with neurological conditions including Stroke, Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis in Twickenham and Barnes. The groups help communication, breath flow, cognition and movement and improve mental well-being. Find out more here
OK MUSIC HARMONY
Group music therapy sessions for elderly people with diagnosed memory problems and their carers which take place at Homelink Respite Care Centre in Whitton. Music helps to evoke memories and the groups lift mood and reduce isolation. Find out more here
GROUPS AT TAG YOUTH CLUB FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

MUSIC THERAPY AT RUILS
