with OKMTThe Otakar Kraus Music Trust (OKMT) provides music therapy and music projects for over 500 people of all ages with physical, learning, neurological or psychological difficulties in order to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.
Music touches our emotions deeply and music therapy is an evidence based method of enabling those who find it hard to communicate through traditional methods to express themselves. It has a remarkable ability to enhance communication, social interaction and emotional well-being for a wide range of people.
OKMT has worked for over 30 years in South West London in the Borough of Richmond and surrounding areas, including Twickenham, Barnes, Ham, Teddington, Hampton, Whitton, Mortlake & Hounslow.
We are dedicated to making a difference to some of society’s most vulnerable people, from children with additional needs to elderly people with dementia, by helping them to communicate, gain confidence, bond with others, and have improved mental well-being.

What We Do
We run 1-1 music therapy sessions for children and adults with disabilities or emotional issues. We run small group music therapy in the community in partnership with local organisations – for toddlers with communication delay in Richmond’s Children’s Centres; for children with special educational needs at Skylarks Charity; for adults with learning disabilities with Mencap; for adults with neurological conditions, and for elderly people and their carers. We also run OK Music School, OK Youth Choir and OK Ukulele Group, teaching children and young people with disabilities to play an instrument or sing and perform in public concerts. And a new OK Music Collective for over 18 year olds to explore musical creativity.
We aim to make music therapy affordable for all, and most of our groups are free of charge or heavily subsidised. We can provide bursaries for families on low income or benefits.
“The music therapy sessions have been life-changing for me and my daughter”
“OK Music School encourages me to perform in front of a large audience and gives me confidence”
