LEAVE A GIFT TO OKMT IN YOUR WILL TO MAKE A LASTING LEGACY
“Music therapy is the fastest way to connect to my child I have ever seen”
Could you leave a legacy to help us continue our work? When you make your will it’s important to make sure your friends and family are well provided for. But you can also make a gift in your will to a charity to leave a lasting legacy of kindness and support.
Legacy gifts are vital for small charities like ours, allowing us to plan for the future. A legacy donation to The Otakar Kraus Music Trust could help us continue to transform the wellbeing of people with disabilities or health conditions through the power of music. Your gift could:
Help us make a significant difference to vulnerable people in the future
Potentially reduce your inheritance tax
Leave a lasting legacy that reflects your values and passions
HOW TO MAKE A LEGACY IN YOUR WILL
A legacy is a gift of money, property or possessions left in your will. If you decide to give to a charity, the gift is currently tax-free. If you wish to make your will or amend it, you can contact your solicitor. To include OKMT in your will, you can instruct your solicitor and give our name and charity number:
The Otakar Kraus Music Trust – Registered Charity Number: 1178401
After taking care of your loved ones, leaving a gift to OKMT can help ensure future generations have access to the life-changing power of music and music therapy.
THE DIFFERENCE YOUR LEGACY COULD MAKE
For nearly 35 years OKMT has been providing music therapy in the London Borough of Richmond, helping thousands of people of all ages to express themselves, connect with others, gain confidence, social skills and improved mental wellbeing. Our vision is to ensure everyone has access to music therapy to improve their quality of life. One vital project a gift in your will could help us continue is our work in Children’s Centres with toddlers with communication delays, allowing them to develop listening skills and engage with others. As one parent said, “The sessions have been life-changing for me and my child”

A legacy could help us continue OK Music School, founded in 2012, and transforming the lives of children and young people with disabilities by providing accessible music teaching and opportunities to perform in public concerts. Pupils gain confidence and feel part of a joyful community. Many attend OK Music School for years and we have a constant waiting list. A legacy would enable us to make a long-term difference to young people like K, who joined aged 5 and learned piano. After losing her sight, she is now fulfilling her dream ‘to be a rock star’ playing drums in our concerts! Her mother commented, “Music has been a lifeline for K as she adapts to a life without sight”
Or your gift could support our vital music therapy courses for adults with neurological conditions such as stroke or Parkinson’s. These help to improve voice production, cognition and gross and fine motor movement. R was a Grade 8 pianist at 16, but a severe brain injury halted his musical journey. During the music therapy course, playing Fur Elise reignited his musical memory and his passion for music. His confidence, motor skills and social interaction were all boosted and he is now taking piano lessons again and feels less isolated. His father shared, “I’m thrilled that R has been motivated to play piano again and participate more in the community.”

We understand that leaving a legacy is a personal decision. You may wish to make a gift to OKMT as a dedication to someone you know whom we have supported. Or you may simply wish to pledge your support to helping children and adults in the future through the power of music to inspire and connect people.
