RICHMOND MYTHS

Our group OK Music Collective gave a wonderful performance of ‘The Long Walk Home’ in July, a play inspired by the story of Orpheus and Eurydice! Their performance was part of the Richmond Myths weekend and the play was written by Martha Watson Allpress, directed by Matt Sheath and Anna Young with Eleanor Kettleton.

As well as their moving performance at St Mary Magdalene church on Saturday, OKMC group members also took part in the opening ceremony on Richmond Riverside on Friday, and the closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon. Two group members were ‘golden apple’ holders during the procession which was led by Simon Callow! He gave a wonderful summary of the weekend in prose, including a piece about OKMT:

“These waters carry the love songs of Otakar Kraus.

A symphony of sounds, moving all who joined in.

Martha – all hail! Your approach and structure That allowed a powerful look at when love ruptures.”
