OK Music School was set up 13 years ago by The Otakar Kraus Music Trust to give children and young people with additional needs the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument and perform in public concerts. 80 pupils are currently attending OK Music School where they receive 1-1 specialised teaching with qualified music therapists and music teachers. Pupils gain confidence and self-esteem and feel proud performing in our 4 annual concerts, which bring joy to the community. They gain communication skills and make friends. 28 pupils have even passed a total of 60 music exams.
100% of OK Music School pupils who were able, chose the Happy Smiley to describe Music School, and 90% said they felt proud and confident.
“His confidence has rocketed! It is exciting to see the changes in him now he is having specialist music lessons.”
“Our autistic, non-verbal daughter can show the world that she is more than her diagnosis. Her ability to read music and play piano surprises many people and makes her feel valued.”
